How we compile and cite each breed
Every field in a WhichGoat record is compiled from a named source, a registry standard, a university extension table, or a peer-reviewed or government publication, with the exact URL and the date we checked it. We never copy a source's sentences; every note and description on the site is written in our own words from the underlying facts.
Facts are not copyrightable; the prose and compilation choices of any one source are. We take the former and never the latter, and we never draw from FAO DAD-IS, Wikipedia as a source of record, or any commercial breeder site.
See the full sources page for the complete list of sources used across the corpus, and for how we handle disagreement between sources.
